Open to senior frontend & platform roles

Abdul Hanan Mohil.

Software Engineer, Frontend Platform at Motive. I work on the things other engineers build on top of: shared libraries, the design system, and how the app gets split up and shipped.

01 — About

Hi, I’m Hanan.

I'm a Software Engineer on the Frontend Platform team at Motive, working from Lahore. I've been building web apps for about three years.

I like platform work because one good fix helps every team at once. At Motive that has meant building the formatting engine behind our launch in the UK, EU, and Mexico, a good chunk of the design system, and the proof of concept for splitting our big Angular app into smaller apps that teams can ship on their own.

Lately I spend a lot of time on developer tooling: scripts and AI agents that take care of the boring parts of a big migration, so people can get on with the interesting parts.

Outside work, my favourite way to spend a Saturday is doing nothing much, sitting next to my mom.

02 — Experience

Where I’ve worked

Four roles so far, from full-stack product work to platform engineering.

  1. Motive

    ·

    Software Engineer, Frontend Platform

    Feb 2025 — Present

    San Francisco (Remote)

    • Built the Module Federation proof of concept for splitting Motive's Angular dashboard into Micro-Frontends, and co-led the first product area into production: 9× faster PR checks and 10× faster deploys.
    • Built and owned the shared formatting engine behind Motive's localization program. Other engineers used it to format dates, numbers, and currency across 26+ locales in 10+ teams, helping launch in the UK, EU, and Mexico.
    • Moved 25+ shared modules and services out of the main app into shared libraries, and wrote the migration checklist every team now follows.
    • Built 20+ components for Motive's design system, including a full file upload kit and a custom virtual scroll for dropdowns with thousands of items.
    • Built and launched OmniSearch, now the main search and filter tool across the platform.
    • Set up Playwright visual regression testing for the design system and shared the approach across the frontend team.
    • Built AI agent skills and scripts that automate large refactors: mapping dependencies, rewriting imports, swapping old formatters, and fixing unit tests.
    • Built a scanner that flags design system violations and highlights them on the page, and a one-click setup that lets Product, QA, and Design use Claude Code to ship small UI changes on their own.
  2. Texagon

    ·

    Software Engineer

    Oct 2024 — Jan 2025

    Lahore, Pakistan

    • Built the backend for a multi-tenant chatbot platform in Node.js and TypeScript on Supabase, with a schema that kept each client's data separate.
    • Built the pipeline that turned text, images, and video into embeddings, so the chatbots could answer from a client's own content.
    • Built the APIs and session handling that let clients drop an AI agent into their own websites.
  3. Lunivate

    ·

    Software Engineer (Contract)

    Jul 2024 — Oct 2024

    Austin, TX (Remote)

    • Built a marketplace that matched therapists with staffing agencies, with a dashboard that showed agencies how their listings were doing.
    • Set up an n8n flow that read incoming request emails and created jobs automatically.
    • Built the mobile app in Flutter.
  4. Metadots

    ·

    Associate Software Engineer

    Dec 2023 — Jul 2024

    Lahore, Pakistan

    • Built a repair-service marketplace with payments and a request flow that sent jobs to nearby technicians.
    • Added home pickup and on-site repair options.
    • Built an onboarding assistant and a medical chatbot with LangChain, Pinecone, and OpenAI, so users could ask about their account in plain English.

Things I’ve built at Motive

The three biggest things I’ve worked on, and what changed because of them.

Micro-Frontend Migration

Breaking Motive's large Angular app into smaller apps that each team can build, test, and ship on its own.

  • Built the Module Federation proof of concept that split the first feature area out of the main app. Solved the hard parts: sharing single instances of Angular CDK and core services across apps, and versioning the shared libraries.
  • Moved 25+ modules and services (logging, monitoring, sessions, feature flags, formatters, and more) into shared libraries with strict boundaries. Wrote the migration checklist every team now follows.
  • Built AI agent skills that map a module's dependencies, decide where each import should live, and rewrite import paths automatically. Teams can now move code out with much less risk.
  • Co-led moving AI Vision, the first product area, to the new setup. It now loads at runtime in production, with no performance regression across 6 locales and 3 regions.
  • Now working on letting each pod release on its own, and keeping shared singletons in sync between the shell app and every remote app.

Localization Platform

Got Motive's web app ready for the UK, EU, and Mexico by building the one formatting engine every team uses for dates, numbers, and currency.

  • Built the shared formatting engine and Angular pipes for dates, times, numbers, and currency on top of the browser's Intl API and CLDR data, covering 6 languages and 26+ locales. Engineers across the program built on it.
  • Designed a safe migration path: each formatter falls back to the old output behind a Statsig flag, so 10+ teams could switch over screen by screen without breaking anything.
  • Wrote the test suite that protected the rollout, covering currency, percentages, date patterns, and locale tags across German, French, Polish, US, and UK English.
  • Contributed to a cross-platform program (Web, iOS, Android, Backend) that also set up LLM-based translation to scale to 20+ languages.

Design System & UI Quality

Built key parts of Motive's design system, plus the tools that keep the whole app consistent with it.

  • Built a file upload kit of 6 components: direct-to-S3 uploads, progress tracking, validation, bulk upload, and gallery previews. It replaced a mix of one-off upload screens across the app.
  • Unblocked the team on a tough problem: dropdowns couldn't show multi-line items with virtual scroll. Wrote a custom Angular CDK scroll strategy that handles variable heights and stays fast with thousands of items.
  • Set up visual regression testing with Playwright for 10+ components across their states and variants, and ran a session to roll it out across frontend.
  • Built a scanner that finds design system violations (off-system fonts, hardcoded colors, custom icons) and highlights them on the page, so QA and Design can spot drift and the team can track fixes.
  • Improved 15+ components for accessibility and usability: keyboard navigation, tooltips on cut-off text, mobile layouts, and new variants.
